Ikat Love!
Weaving ikat can take 100 steps from breeding the silkworms to weaving the cloth. Because of the time and skill required to weave it, many cultures believe the cloth is steeped in healing spiritual or protective powers. Most ikat textiles have a blurriness to the design, caused by the difficulty in perfectly aligning pre-dyed threads in complex patterns. A more skilled weaver can minimize this - but ironically it is this distinctive blurriness that captivates textile collectors the most. Heirloom patterns have been verbally handed down mother to daughter for generations. Magical, indeed!
