This hand drawn batik silk scarf is one of Indonesia’s finest. It is a completely handmade wearable work of art that begins with the weaving of the silk. Following this, the design is carefully drawn by hand, with wax, onto the silk. Each color in each piece requires a new application of wax and another dye process. Therefore, it is not at all uncommon for a batik piece to take several months to complete! Particularly striking is the luster of the silk which reflects any color it is placed next to, ensuring an adaptable and versatile accessory...and making it really difficult to photograph!
