Ancient Roman Glass Earrings

Regular price $82.00

Throughout the Roman Empire, glass was created in a wide range of colors and patterns. Various metals such as copper, cobalt, manganese and iron were added to the glass ingredients as coloring agents. These metals resulted in a rainbow of beautiful glass colors including blues, greens, reds, yellows, browns, black and even purple.

Over the years, the chemical decomposition of the glass due to the acids and moisture in the soil has created the aesthetically appealing iridescence which enhances these shards and their appeal today. The color variations in these earrings make them a remarkable and versatile accessory.
