Hundreds of very thin filaments from the stems of lotus flowers are spun together to form threads of lotus fiber which is then woven by hand into cloth! This amazing fiber was first created in Myanmar by a weaver who used it to weave special robes for the venerated village monk. Myanmar has long been producing magnificent hand woven silk and cotton, but the lotus fabric is both amazingly unique, labor intensive and completely unequalled anywhere in the world.
