This is a particularly distinctive wide silver cuff bracelet, hand wrought by the Karen Hilltribe silversmiths in Northern Thailand. Silver is traditionally worn by the Hilltribe people as a symbol of status and wealth. Originally opium growers in the mountainous Golden Triangle region, the very skillful crafting of silver has gradually become the more important, socially acceptable (and less environmentally damaging) source of Hilltribe income.
